Over 500 clinicians attended the DOPPS symposium, "International Hemodialysis Practices and Outcomes: The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS)" at the 48th Congress of the ERA - EDTA in Prague. The session featured talks on best practices in hemodialysis care, international trends in anemia management, hemodiafiltration versus conventional hemodialysis, and international practices of cardiac medications. The talks were given by a panel of experts from around Europe and were based on data collected in the DOPPS. In addition to the featured symposium, DOPPS researchers presented eight abstracts on dialysis practices and outcomes. DOPPS country investigators also gathered to discuss several topics, including planning for the next phase of the study, international expansion, and future data collection for chronic kidney disease.
