DOPPS Pilot Study in Saudi Arabia
Noteworthy progress has been made in the DOPPS Saudi Arabia pilot study. This pilot study serves as a model for implementation of DOPPS in Saudi Arabia and potentially in other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

A protocol training meeting for all participating facilities was held via web conference on October 3, 2011. With assistance from Dr. Faissal Shaheen, Director of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, and other senior investigators from DOPPS Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ron Pisoni was able to lead this successful meeting from Ann Arbor. Medical Directors and Study Coordinators travelled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to attend the training, and were highly engaged and enthusiastic. Data collection is expected to begin shortly.
