Alyssa Pozniak, PhD

Dr. Pozniak is a health services researcher with over 16 years of research experience leading and supporting studies to inform Medicare policy, care delivery, quality, and patient outcomes. Her research interests include the care delivery and health economics of post-acute care settings, measure development, and Medicare payment policies. She has worked on numerous federally-funded projects to address a variety of health policy issues, including the effect of financial incentives on home health agency performance, identifying and defining vulnerabilities in CMS’ hospice program, and the effect of adding a case-mix adjustment to Medicare’s end-stage renal disease (ESRD) prospective payment system. Dr. Pozniak has also conducted qualitative research to support mixed methods studies, including case studies and interviews with key informants, patients, and medical providers. Dr. Pozniak is currently the Project Director for the CMS-funded project that evaluates the home health value-based purchasing (HHVBP) model on health care utilization, Medicare spending, quality of care, and patient experience of home health patients. Prior to joining Arbor Research in 2015, Dr. Pozniak served as project director and analytic lead for a variety of funders, including CMS, the CDC, AHRQ, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Dr. Pozniak received her PhD from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health’s Health Management and Policy program in 2006.
