Nathan West

Senior Research Scientist

Mr. West has more than 25 years of professional experience in health services research, with a special focus on value-based care improvement for Medicare and Medicaid populations, quality measurement and patient outcomes, and alternative payment models. He is proficient in staff leadership, project management, business development, data analysis, report writing, qualitative data collection, evaluation design and mixed methods, and implementation science. As a Principal Healthcare Researcher, Mr. West directs projects and complex research tasks for federal clients, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), that implement and evaluate advanced primary care transformation, alternative payment models in episode-based and bundled payment, quality improvement in post-acute care and long-term services and supports, and state-based innovations in care delivery and value-based payment. Mr. West recently directed the CMS-sponsored Oncology Care Model evaluation and previous to that was a co-director of the Model’s implementation and monitoring contract. He is adept at providing strategic planning and developing new business across the organization for core areas of health policy and program research.
